So far, we have focused on composing shots of people, but what about all those shots that are NOT human beings?


Composition is an art that takes many years to perfect, but it's amazing how good your shots can look if you follow just a few simple rules of composition.


Diagonal Lines:

The most important thing is to do is look for diagonal "lines." Horizontal and vertical lines are dull and static; whereas diagonal lines are much more dynamic. Here's an example of how this works. Look at this straight-on shot of a house. Notice how all the lines (roofline, curbline, window edges etc.) are all horizontal or vertical--Dullsville.
