Composition > Angles > Low Angle

"Low Angle" is the name for this kind of shot, because the camera is low. It's useful because it can make people look powerful. But avoid it for most general shooting.

Similarly, shooting up at someone makes them seem powerful and dominant. This is called a "low angle" shot. Watch any old horror movie and you will notice that the monster is always shot from a low angle--typically with the camera on the floor.

You can make your 4-year-old look like the star of "Honey I Blew up the Kid" just by putting your camcorder on the floor and shooting up.
